REVIEW: Department of Truth #1 is a very good first issue

By Larry Jorash — James Tynion IV has made his name through horror and superhero comics, but in Department of Truth #1, we see him venture into new territory with a noir fiction of sorts. The cover alone will warrant a second glance on shelves from everyone this week, and once the book is cracked, the art will show off mesmerizing design work. Blending hard truths from modern years and soft truths from the past, the story readers will find in this book is nothing if not unique.

REVIEW: Wynd #3 is another perfect issue in a great series

By Jacob Cordas — There has been a lot of discussion lately about decompression in comics. Stories that used to be told in one page can now take six issues or more to be fully realized. REVIEW: Something is Killing the Children #9

By Larry Jorash — Nobody needs to be told that a horror-themed comic will have real substance and emotion when writer James Tynion’s name is attached. Wynd #1 from BOOM! is a perfect debut - REVIEW

By Jacob Cordas — I can’t imagine how good it must feel to be BOOM! Studios right now. They have continually been able to release amazing comic after amazing comic for every age group. Their line up is a jaw-dropping hodgepodge of perfection. With a focus on genre storytelling, especially the fantasy genre (and all of its respective subgenres), they keep pushing the boundaries of what this style of storytelling can look like. You want swamp set semi-future fantasy revolving around pirate-radio? Read b.b. free. You want scifi fantasy riffs off of mythology starring a dinosaur? Read The Midas Flesh. You want a slice of life witch-school take on veterinary sciences? Read Hex Vet.
