Best comiXology Sales: Weekend of May 21, 2021

Bitch Planet, Vol. 1 - Vol. 2
Writer:
Kelly Sue DeConnick
Artist: Valentine De Landro
Publisher: Image Comics
Eisner Award-nominated writer KELLY SUE DeCONNICK (PRETTY DEADLY, Captain Marvel) and VALENTINE DE LANDRO (X-Factor) present the premiere volume of BITCH PLANET, their critically acclaimed and deliciously vicious sci-fi satire. Think Margaret Atwood meets Inglourious Basterds. Discussion guide included.
Why It’s Cool: I don’t know if we’ll ever get new issues of Bitch Planet. It’s been a long while since the series did its excellent supplementary triple feature thing, but I remain hopeful. Even if we don’t, the two volumes we got were absolutely excellent, pulp sci-fi with a timely and thoughtful bend. Doesn’t get much better than that in monthly comics these days, folks.
Price: $9.98 for both volumes

The Brave and The Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman
Writer/Artist:
Liam Sharp
Publisher: DC Comics
The Dark Knight teams with the Amazon Warrior in this epic graphic novel written and illustrated by best-selling artist Liam Sharp. When a Celtic god's murder leads to a war between the fairy folk and a possible breach between worlds, Wonder Woman must find the murderer and keep the peace while Batman investigates strange occurrences in Gotham City. As Diana must turn to the World's Greatest Detective for help, the two heroes quickly learn their cases may be connected. In a world where the normal rules of investigation don't apply and any clue can be obscured by charms and magic, the two Justice Leaguers must rely on each other to uncover a murder someone is trying to hide. Beautifully rendered by master storyteller Liam Sharp, The Brave And The Bold: Batman And Wonder Woman is a fantastic new standalone story featuring two of the worlds' greatest heroes!
Why It’s Cool: This book is a romp through gaelic mythology, plus also superheroes and the heavy metal-album cover-esque hyper-detailed artwork of Liam Sharp. It flew a bit under the radar, but within this week’s big Batman sale, this ranks as one of the best hidden gems, especially within recent years.

$8.99

VAUGHAN, New York Times bestselling writer of SAGA, and CLIFF CHIANG, legendary artist of Wonder Woman, this gorgeous oversized deluxe hardcover is the perfect way to experience the first two storylines of the smash-hit series that The Chicago Tribune named one of the "Best Books of the Year." Why It’s Cool: These are some of the most visually-interesting comics to come out of a monthly publisher in I don’t know how long, using a nostalgia-driven time travel romp to deliver some really great conceptual art, just truly imaginative stuff. I think this is also the first time that the entire series has been on sale for this reasonable of a price. Check these books out now if you haven’t already. Hell, even if you read them in singles the nature of the story is such that you could probably use a re-read…I know I could.
