This book is obviously a follow-up to my 2024 title, Death of Comics Bookcase, Vol. 1, but it also stands on its own! There’s continuations of stories from the first volumes for returning readers, but new readers can jump right in and have a blast too.

Here’s the synopsis:

During a strange high school event, four teenagers rediscover the mysterious Comics Bookcase! And the oddball storyteller insists on taking them to new worlds … filled with weirdo superheroes, sci-fi action, and much more!

I should note, the book is also DONE, just like Macabre Valley was at launch, so if/when we fund, fulfilment will be rapid fire. In short, the timeline is looking like this: -campaign launch in early September -campaign ends in early October -you get your comics in early November

But enough for now, let’s jump into our first-ever Comics Bookcase team-up!

Comics Bookcase’s First Team-Up

After the first volume of Death of Comics Bookcase funded in 2024, I took it to Baltimore Comic Con, where I tabled with the book for the first time. During the show, I met Sean Von Gorman, who was there promoting the excellent weirdo superhero comic he had drawn, The Pedestrian.

The Pedestrian was a fantastic book, featuring a superhero designed essentially to look a lot like the little guy on the walk sign you see on the street. From there, Sean and writer Joey Esposito told a really engrossing story about a smalltown, that spun into touches of Grant Morrison-style grandiose superhero sci-fi concepts.

It was a big hit, one that built momentum and grew a rabid fanbase. What was really kind, was Sean made time during the Baltimore show to come over and buy a copy of our book, the one that feature the weirdo superhero I had co-created with Nick Cagnetti, who was similarly-inspired by an old word processor assistant.

And it was at this moment that the first-ever Comics Bookcase team-up was born. Here’s a photo to commemorate…

As you can see, we were dropped in a corner by the show (just part of the never-ending dues-paying one does in indie comics, so it was very nice of Sean to specifically come over and nab the book.

Sean was even so nice as to say he saw our character, The Responsibili-Teen, as The Pedestrians only true threat, ha. And so we started talking after about him illustrating a piece with both characters together, and he threw out what if it was also inspired by classic Sonic Vs. Knuckles style team-up art?

And this KILLER piece was born…

Pretty fun! Here’s hoping we see more adventures from The Pedestrian soon…

What’s Next?

Well, to be frank, I have about five more weeks of promoting the prelaunch page for my new project ahead of me.

The smart logic from comics marketers, is you want to have AT LEAST 200 pre-launch followers behind your campaign when you launch, so you can have a strong day one, fund your book, and not have to sweat out the full month-long campaign.

We’re in a good spot now, with about 130 followers or so at the time of this writing and a decent chunk of time to close the gap. But if you’re interested in the new book and haven’t followed it yet, I’d really appreciate you giving it a follow!
